"We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday despite the bad weather! Lovely hosts and friendly atmosphere made it all enjoyable and there is plenty to do locally in the (unending) rain! "

"Beautiful cottage, really friendly owners (Vicki and Tim) and great walks from the door, accompanied by Poppy and Tiggy the labradors (much missed already!). Lovely touch to have fresh flowers in the lounge and a pint of milk in the fridge for a much needed cup of tea on arrival, and some cider if something stronger was required! Is a good location for travelling to Devon, Somerset and Dorset so you get to see all sights with relative ease. I would recommend a fortnight at the very least due to all the things to do and see. Cannot stress enough how welcome we were made to feel and how instantly relaxed we were. Places not to be missed whilst there....Lulworth Cove : Durdle Door, Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Monkey World, Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park and of course Perry's Cider Mill! "

"This holiday was about relaxing in beautiful scenic surroundings, I would strongly recommend it for recharging the batteries and for spotting wildlife and unusual birds. A great spot for doing as little or as much as you like and with many places of interest and seaside resorts on your doorstep. The accommodation is a lovely cosy farm cottage, full of character and history. "

About Bere Farm

In beautiful rolling countryside bordering Devon and Somerset, these charming cottages enjoy a courtyard setting with the owners' elegant Georgian farmhouse, previously part of the Forde Abbey Estate. Within 8 acres of lovely grounds, home to abundant wildlife including barn owls. There is a pond with carp to fish as well as a bubbling stream (unfenced, toddlers beware!). As well as the area's many National Trust properties, places of interest include Ford Abbey House and Gardens and Cricket St Thomas Wildlife Park (both nearby). Many nearby restaurants and pubs serve good food. Shops and pubs ¼ mile.

Dorset’s Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage Site, with dramatic coves and stunning cliffs, topped by the South West Coast Path, which offers some wonderful views. Here you’ll find characterful seaside towns like Swanage and Lyme Regis as well as the wide sweep of Weymouth Beach. If you’re looking for somewhere more lively, then Bournemouth won’t disappoint. This is one of Britain’s most popular resorts and has attractions and entertainments in abundance. Nearby Poole is quieter, but still has much to offer when you’re taking one of our Dorset cottage holidays. Try and make the trip to Brownsea Island, a fabulous nature reserve here.

Inland on your cottage holiday in Dorset you can enjoy the rolling hills that are so characteristic of the county and explore what has become known as “Thomas Hardy Country”. The county town of Dorchester, with its High Street lined with 17th and 18th Century houses, is little changed from Hardy’s day, while the pretty town of Shaftesbury has been used as a location in countless films set in Olde England.
