Rick Stein has put Padstow on the map and more chefs, including Jamie Oliver, are joining him, attracted by the quality of the ingredients available locally. Then there is St. Ives, long a haunt of artists drawn here by the wonderful light and inspiring scenery. A cottage holiday in North Cornwall puts you in touch with history from ancient celtic times to the days of the smugglers. Tintagel Castle, rumoured to be the birthplace of King Arthur, sits high on a cliff and still has a strange air of mystery about it.
