In a peaceful woodside setting overlooking Ryedale towards the Yorkshire Wolds, this beautiful cluster of mellow stone barns has recently been converted into prestigious cottages boasting luxurious standards. Set amidst 100 acres of farmland and reached via a 400 yard tree lined avenue, they stand on the fringes of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park within a mile along a pretty country footpath of Pickering's cafés, restaurants, pubs, supermarket and interesting craft galleries (1¼ miles by road). The town also boasts the departure point of the steam train journey over the Heartbeat moorlands to Goathland (aka Aidensfield) as well as an ancient castle, modern swimming pool and the Flamingo Land theme park. Visitors at Tantara receive a 10% discount at Dalby Forest activity centre (5 miles) with quad bike trekking, archery, paintballing, climbing wall, and clay pigeon shooting
All the myriad delights of North Yorkshire are easily accessible: Eden Camp is close by, Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall (N.T.) and Rievaulx Abbey are under 15 miles and Thirsk, home of the James Herriot museum, is 20 miles, whilst Ripon and Fountains Abbey (N.T.) are 35 miles. The magnificent Minster, museums, medieval streets, theatres, and cinema of the city of York; Scarborough's golden sands and traditional seaside amusements; Whitby for a bustling fishing harbour and the chance to see tall ships; and Robin Hood's Bay, with all its smugglers' secrets, all lie within half an hour's drive.
