There is lovely walking to be enjoyed in this area of wooded moorland, lochs and nature reserves, with the magnificent Grampians to the north. Ballater boasts excellent shops, pubs and restaurants, sports centre, cycle hire, golf and fishing on the River Dee, and riding is available nearby.
