Abbots Court Cottages - Lantern Cottage
Enjoying a delightful setting in a tiny village in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside, this charming collection of character cottages has been tastefully and sympathetically converted from a range of farm buildings. Each cottage has its own garden or patio and offers the perfect location for just relaxing or for exploring the myriad attractions of the Cotswolds and Shakespeare country. Their very well equipped interiors have been beautifully furnished, with many antiques and four poster beds, to the highest standards which has won them the coveted 'Times and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Conservation Award'. All the cottages are warm and cosy all year round, making Abbots Court the perfect place for a holiday whatever the season.
Nearby is a working farm, and from a distance, the general activities of the countryside can be observed, with numerous local walks through lovely woodland and pastureland offering superb views. This is also wonderful country for touring, with mellow, golden Cotswold towns, picturesque villages and some of the loveliest scenery to be seen in England.
The charming riverside town of Evesham (4 miles), its arched bridge spanning the Avon, has many excellent shops, historic buildings and a museum of local history which was once part of the old Abbey. Stratford-upon-Avon is just 13 miles away and holds much to delight the visitor. The flower filled town offers boat trips on the river, fine buildings of historical interest, including the birthplace of William Shakespeare, and of course, the famous theatres. Anne Hathaway's Cottage can be found a short distance from the town itself.
Tewkesbury, the ancient town famous for its abbey and medieval buildings, and the cathedral city of Worcester, renowned for its fine porcelain are both within easy reach. The surrounding counties of Oxfordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire offer a wealth of attractions, all within comfortable touring distance. The Malvern Hills and some of the Cotswolds best known villages, including Chipping Campden and Broadway, are also within an easy drive, as are many National Trust properties.
There are two golf course within 3 miles, fishing is available on nearby trout lakes, and the River Avon is a short distance away for boating and fishing. Swimming, tennis and riding can all be enjoyed locally and the countryside is a delight for cyclists to explore.
