Picturesque towns and villages, many ancient castles and the Whisky Trail around some of Scotland's most famous distilleries are all within easy reach. Aberdeen and Inverness (the capital of the Highlands) both make good day trips. Golf, canoeing, gliding, pony trekking, hill walking and spectating at Highland Games are just some of the activities in the area, and fishing is available by arrangement. Skiing in season is available nearby. Bar and restaurant at Inver Hotel, 3 miles. Choice of pubs, restaurants and shops at Ballater, 8 miles.
